Blue, baby!
Just bought tix for the Blue Man Group show in Vegas for Mike's 30th birthday.
Has anyone ever seen them in concert?
Any tips for Vegas, anyone? I kinda feel funny going there -- like I'm doing something bad -- gambling was a BIG sin when I was growing up.
These days, I guess I view it in two ways:
- pure entertainment
- just stupid, like I'm throwing my money away.
But Mike & I are reasonably intelligent people, right? It's not like we're going to be gambling away the house or anything - we're spending a (very!) limited, pre-decided upon amount of cash, and that's that.

have fun. play the nickel slots, and don't get caught up in the 'What happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas' crap
You will have so much fun in Vegas- I went 5 years ago and didn't gamble hardly at all. So much to see and do- go to the Bellagio- they have an incredible art glass ceiling in the main lobby and free conservatory with seasonal floral displays. The Venetian is very beautiful too. My goals for Vegas were #1) get my picture taken with an Elvis impersonator #2) Witness a cheesy wedding #3) Eat at a buffet- all of which i had accomplished within 12 hours of arriving!
When I was at Malone, I often was assigned readings that I thought, "Oh, my. I can't believe I've been assigned this at a Christian college," because it was either risque, horrific, or vulgar. I learned one key thing from those experiences: just because you're IN the world (either mentally or physically) that doesn't mean you have to be OF that world. I was intelligent enough to keep myself separated and/or not influenced by ideas. You are too. Just enjoy Vegas for what it is, and appreciate it as a novelty.
Oh, and I've been to a Casino once and played with only $1 for hours. I walked out with $1.10. At least I walked away with more than I put in.=)
Vegas is so much fun, and you don't need to spend all your time gambling. Besides, like anything else, playing slots or roulette or poker or whatever gets boring after a while. Be sure to check out the dancing fountains at the Bellagio. Take a gondola ride at the Venetian. Check out the Shops at the Forum at Caesar's Palace. Don't forget to look for Elvis! And like Megan said, play the nickel slots. I thought they were just as much fun as the $5 ones.
