Yeah - Hotel Rwanda isn't exactly a popcorn movie. I think you'll be sick while watching it, too. However, it's one of the most important movies you'll ever watch. But it differs from Lord of War in that throughout the movie, there is scattered symbolism of hope.
I think that "Lord of War" is also one of the most important movies you can watch, too, it'll just make you sick. I was physically sick to my stomach & had a headache after watching it.
There's a line in the movie where Cage says, "They say evil prevails when good men fail to act. They should say 'evil prevails.'"
(Cage should win an Oscar for his performance, as should Jared Leto. They're both AMAZING.)
Indeed, there is no hope whatsoever in this movie. It is, however, I think, a wake-up call, especially for Christians in the two countries I love most or at least am most familiar with - the United States and Ukraine.
Not that I expect - or even want - every movie to have a sappy & happy ending. But I am grateful that no matter how evil things become in this desparately fallen world, we can still HOPE.
