The pictures Aunt Cindy has been asking for...

Where's Dominic? Here he is! Can you guess his favorite game these days?
If you're not playing with him, he'll just play by himself. All the while babbling, "babababamamama" - and we think we heard him say "dada" last night. Finally ;)

playing favorites

The other day, I had a long list of errands.
Fun stuff, like buying diapers and formula and shampoo and going to the bank and buying stamps and mailing bills.
So I called my best friend to see if she needed anything while I was out. As it turns out, she was home alone with one of her three daughters, and had a few hours to kill. She was able to come with me!
I was very excited to spend a few hours with her - and ordinary chores suddenly turned into a fun excursion.

So after lunch, we're chatting, and her four-year-old pipes up from the back seat next to my sleeping son, "Aunt Amber, what's your favorite?"
"What's your favorite 'what', Emma?" Carrie (aka Mrs. Educational-child-developmental-specialist) asked her. "You have to ask her favorite thing between something, like apples or bananas."
"What's your favorite kid, Aunt Amber?" Emma asked.
Carrie & I started talking at the same time. I let her explain!
"Well, of course, Dominic is her favorite, Emma!" Carrie said. "He's her baby!"
I added, "But Emma, I love you very much and you'll always be really special to me."
Carrie continued, "Emma - that's like someone asking you, 'Who's your favorite mommy?"
"Oh, between you and Aunt Amber," Emma asked? "I don't know. I'd have to do "Eenie Meenie Minie Mo."
Carrie & I started cracking up. We laughed so hard that we were crying. This lasted for several minutes.
When we finally stopped laughing, Emma said, "Hey, it's you, Aunt Amber! You won Eenie Meenie Minie Mo!"
Four year olds. There are scary times a-coming!

Good Times

For my birthday, we went to Put-in-Bay. It was chilly, but nice to be away & relax!
Here are Dominic & I in the Butterfly House - the warmest place on the island.

Below - I snagged a picture from my friend's blog of our play date. He seemed to like that floppy sun hat, so I found two for him yesterday at Babyland. Daddy prefers the plain old ball cap (surprise, surprise), but I keep trying to tell him that these protect his fair skin better - they do... right?
